Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data the GICITC website and the GICITC app, operated by the Department of Information and Communication Engineering (GIC) of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, collect and how they use it.

What we collect

• Account data: your name in Latin and Khmer script, email address, student ID, role and class, from the class lists provided by the institute.
• Your course enrolments and your registrations for events.
• Attendance records: for each class session, whether you were present, late, absent or excused, the time of your check-in and any correction made by your teacher.
• An identifier of the phone you registered for attendance, its platform and model, and a push notification token.
• Only when a class session uses a location check: your distance from the classroom building at the moment you check in. We do not store your location history and never track you in the background.
• Aggregated usage statistics (for example the number of visits per page per day) collected by the website itself, without advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

How we use it

We use this data to give you access to your courses and events, to record attendance as required by the institute, to send you announcements and reminders you have not switched off, and to improve the service.

Who can see it

Your attendance and personal data are visible only to you, to your teachers for their classes, and to the department's administrators. We do not sell data or share it for advertising. Push notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service.

How long we keep it

Attendance records are kept for the period required by the institute. Usage statistics are kept in aggregated form. Server logs are deleted after 30 days.

Your choices

You can correct your name and change your language and notification preferences in your profile. For any other request about your data, contact the department.
